INCREASING PEAK COOLING CAPACITY WITH HEATTANK

Unlike reducing peak demand , the main goal here is to increase the peak cooling capacity of the cooling system and serve the high demand.

The problem:
Peak demand increased compared to design state (e.g., changes in building use, function, effects of global warming, or decreased cooling performance of the old cooling system). In this example, the peak cooling capacity of the chiller is 1, or 100%, but the current peak demand is 1.2, or 120%. 20% of the cooling demand is not served in the peak, the comfort, the temperature and the quality of the technological process are not provided.

By discharging the Thermal Battery during the peak demand period (our control system is automatic), the increased peak demand can be provided.

The figure below shows the daily cooling needs for an office building during peak periods. The blue curve shows the cooling demand (which cannot be provided without the HeatTank), the red curve shows the operation of the chiller and the green curve shows the operation of the cooling system after the installation of Heatventors Thermal Battery. With it, peak demand can be provided by the chiller and the Thermal Battery working together. (charging the HeatTank is only presented for illustration in this example)
