Installing a Thermal Battery instead of purchasing a new chiller

As cooling demands increase, cooling capacity must be expanded by installing either a new chiller or a Thermal Battery. With the integration of the HeatTank Intelligent Thermal Battery, the HeatTank and the chiller together meet peak demands. This means it is not necessary to cover 100% of the demand with the chiller alone; instead, the chiller can be sized for a lower capacity.
By choosing a Thermal Battery, in addition to meeting increased cooling demands, the following benefits can be achieved:
1. Efficiency improvement
Cooling efficiency (EER) largely depends on partial load and outdoor temperature. With the help of a Thermal Battery, it becomes possible to operate the cooling system when it can run more efficiently, using less electricity, thereby saving energy and operating costs.

2. Peak electricity demand reduction
Every company has to define their peak electricity performance in advance, which means they pay after a peak demand, which is the maximum they can use. If they exceed this value, they will be penalized, if they commit too much compared to the actual use, they pay unnecessarily more.
HeatTank Thermal Battery greatly reduces peak cooling requirements, which also reduces electrical power peaks for the entire building. So it supports the reduction of the peak electrical power.
On the other hand, the HeatTank Thermal Battery increases the flexibility of the cooling system, so if the building's electrical power demand exceeds the specified value (there may be a surge in production or intermittent peak demand for different systems), HeatTank can reduce the cooling power. This prevents the committed value from being exceeded.

3. Green certification
The installation of HeatTank supports the achievement of environmental goals and helps earn various sustainability building certifications, such as LEED, BREEAM, HQE, through the following benefits:
Reducing contracted and consumed electricity by optimizing the operation of the cooling system
Optimizing and measuring cooling energy production
Supporting the integration of renewable energy sources
Monitoring and metering systems
Sustainability goals
Reducing CO2 emissions
Decreasing primary energy demand and emitted waste heat
Reducing the amount of climate gases (smaller cooling system)
Maintenance and availability of building engineering systems
As a long-lasting (30+ years) building engineering component, HeatTank extends the system’s lifespan
Optimized design, reduced maintenance needs and costs (the cooling system doesn’t need to operate at peak capacity)
Increase operational safety
Additionally, the Intelligent Thermal Battery offers advantages regarding green loans and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) criteria.
