EIT Community Hungary Opening Draws Strong Interest from Local Innovators

The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a key EU body, officially launched the EIT Community Hub Hungary at an event in Budapest, marking a significant step in strengthening Hungary’s position in the European innovation landscape. The event gathered innovators, industry leaders, and government representatives to discuss the country’s role in advancing a resilient, innovation-driven economy.

Eszter Drevenyák, the newly appointed EIT Community Officer for Hungary, emphasized the Hub's role in fostering collaboration between corporate, educational, and research institutions. “The EIT Community Hub Hungary is here to unite and support the local innovation ecosystem,” she said. The Hub will offer Hungarian entrepreneurs access to a wide array of opportunities, including networking, training programs, funding advice, and EU-wide innovation initiatives.


The launch was also attended by notable figures such as Ilaria Tagliavini, EIT Head of Operations, and Gábor Zupkó, Head of the European Commission's Representation in Hungary. They highlighted the importance of academic-industry collaboration in driving economic growth and enhancing Hungary's competitiveness within Europe.


The event featured panel discussions on the success of EIT’s Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs), which support sectors like food, health, energy, and digitalization.


Kakas József, CEO of HeatVentos participated on a panel discussion together with other successful innovations: HeatVentors, TourMIX, Pannon Pro Innovations and ARport Hungary showcased Hungary’s vibrant entrepreneurial spirit lead by Imre Hild from OUVC.


With plans for future events and continuous support, the EIT Community Hub Hungary is set to play a pivotal role in fostering Hungary’s innovation ecosystem, making Budapest an even more vibrant hub for entrepreneurial activity and international collaboration.
