Design parameters

Aim of HeatTank: Energy saving

Cooling capacity: 50 kW
Cooling cost: 35 000 EUR/year
Free-cooling: NO
Desired inner temperature: 22-24°C
Cooling temperature level: 7/12°C
Location: Budapest, Hungary
Electricity price: 0,11 EUR/kWh

3 pieces of HeatTank 50-2

Cover the needs for 3-4 hours
Cover the peak needs for 10-12 hours
Total cost of the system: 82 000 EUR

Electricity saving

Free-cooling: 21%
Free-cooling at night: 20%
Chiller optimization: 15%
Total savings: 56%, 19 600 EUR/year

The cooling system gets more stable

The cooling system gets more stable, requiring less maintenance and reduced operation costs.

Savings: 920 EUR/year

Higher Tier certification

Higher Tier certification maybe targeted through increased operation measures.

With higher certification the data center could earn more on leasing: 2 000 EUR/year

Backup cooling

Backup cooling available to bridge restart downtime in case of blackouts.

(The restart of the newest cooling systems take min 5 minutes, which could be critical.)

Type: HeatTank 50-2

Total weight [kg]: 1644

Additional savings, which are not calculated: close to flat electricity consumption per day means lower electricity price from the system operator. Also, demand response is possible (when you get paid by the system operator for helping in the electric system compensation).

During our calculations, we did not take into account the estimated high scale electricity price increase. In Slovakia, the electricity price was doubled in 2019 and this tendency is expected in the other European countries.
